No. 18 Southern Nazarene Advances Past Morningside in Overtime

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Rachel Eguren's goal 3:16 into the overtime advanced the 18th-seed Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm to the second round of the 2007 NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament by a score of 3-2 over the 15th-seed Morningside Mustangs.

Becky Schaefer set up for a corner kick and booted the ball into Eguren, who was waiting slightly inside the six-yard box. Eguren kicked the ball past the keeper and insured the Crimson Storm another night in Daytona Beach.

The game advanced to overtime after a 1-1 tie through 90 minutes of play.

Southern Nazarene was put on the board first on a goal in the ninth minute by Randi Duncan from Kelli Traves. Traves took a shot at goal and it deflected off of the gloves of Kelly Berst. Duncan collected the rebound and scored.

Morningside tied the game in the 15th minute on a goal from Maggie Kukuk as she slotted the ball into the goal just past the left side of the keeper.

Southern Nazarene will face #2 Lindsey Wilson on Thursday Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
