Azusa Pacific Advances to Title Match for Second Consecutive Year with 1-0 Victory over William Jewell

Brandon Stirm scored the game-winning goal in the 56th minute leading APU to its second consecutive appearance in the NAIA National Championship match

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ; Brandon Stirm;s goal midway through the second half gave No. 8 Azusa Pacific University a 1-0 victory over No. 12 William Jewell College in the semifinals of the 2006 NAIA Men;s Soccer National Championship Monday (Nov. 20) evening at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.

The Cougars improved to 17-3-3 and will make their second consecutive trip to the 7 p.m. title match Tuesday (Nov. 21) where they will face the winner of other semifinal match between No. 3 Webber International University and No. 2 Graceland University. The Cardinals ended their season at 18-3-3.

Stirm;s goal was a set piece off a free kick from 25 yards out as he curved the ball into the top of the net over the head of William Jewell;s goalkeeper Andy Shields.
