Graceland Shut Out Grand View 3-0

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ; No. 2 Graceland University scored three first-half goals as they blanked No. 7 Grand View College 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2006 NAIA Men;s Soccer National Championship Saturday (Nov. 18) afternoon at Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets, who are the only remaining team among the tournament;s top four seeds, improved to 16-4-2 and will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between No. 6 Oklahoma Christian University and No. 3 Webber International University in one semifinal contest Monday (Nov. 20) at 8 p.m. The Vikings ended their season at 19-5-0.

The 3-0 margin was the largest of the tournament and avenged a 3-0 loss to Vikings to start the 2006 season.

Grand View was forced to play the final 79 minutes of the match a man down after Ernad Jaskic was sent off after getting a red card on a tackle that injured Ruben Ruales. Graceland wasted little time with the man advantage as they scored 12 seconds after the red card on an unassisted goal by Nick Gay at the 11:54 mark. Matt Klaus scored the second goal with under nine minutes to play off Kevin Souter;s corner kick. Santiago Ricaute scored the final goal off a Klaus assist with 87 seconds remaining in the period.
