Experience:
Tom Kirton is married and has one daughter. He has over 10000 flight hours., about 5000 of which are dual instruction hours given to Private through ATP students in a variety of airplanes. He came to Embry-Riddle in 1976 as an instructor pilot. In 1978 he served as Chief Flight Instructor during the first year of the Prescott campus operation. He left the University for 6 years in the 1980s to work as a corporate pilot flying a Cessna 421 and a Kingair F-90. Subsequently he returned to the Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach campus and has served as a line instructor pilot, Manager of Flight Standards, and Chief Flight Instructor. Currently he is an Associate Professor in the Aeronautical Science Department. He is also the Chief Flight Instructor and ACR for the Embry-Riddle Flight Instructor Refresher Clinic, and is a presenter specializing in Human Factors, Flight Maneuvers and Procedures, and Collision Avoidance.
